I was a student of young drivers and was lucky enough to be placed with Mark. He was very patient, kind, and knowledgeable. If it wasn’t for him I don’t think I would have gained the confidence I needed to pass my test. Thank you Mark and Young Drivers!
After Young drivers scheduled 3 lessons for my child (a few months out), they just cancelled the first one. When i called to rebook, i was told that the instructor is booking 4 months out. This is terrible service. Perhaps they should think about hiring more instructors. How is a child supposed to learn how to drive if appointments are scheduled so far apart.
I was trained by YD when I was learning, and knew the difference it made to spend the extra money to put my child in this program. This location, however, did NOT deliver satisfactory results. The instructor (Frank) failed to teach my child key things, like HIGHWAY DRIVING. I contacted head office about it, speaking to Jean several times. The resolution that came back to me was the offering of additional lessons that they would charge me for, which is unacceptable, as I already paid for these lessons! My son's lessons have been finished for almost a year now, and still no appropriate solutions have been presented. If you're considering enrolling your child in Young Drivers overall, but especially at this location, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND going elsewhere instead. This place shouldn't even be allowed to operate!
Lessons were ok; however they didn't communicate upfront that in order to get the certificate of completion the student needs to pass the in car lesson progress report. The report received by email from [email protected] did not mention anything about what's required to get the certificate. When I called to follow-up, I was told that the student needs to complete a 90 min lesson and evaluation for additional $150. Don't waste your money and time on YD, not worth it.
This is my first review that is below a 4 star. It has been a painful 2 year process. I understand that there have been challenges with being understaffed. Nevertheless, considering what we paid and the service, and WAITING and PATIENCE we've had to go through, has been beyond my limit. We are still trying to finish lessons and testing [this experience is not COVID19 related]
Carol from head office went above and beyond for my son. He lost his workbook and his in care lessons were coming so Carol actually hand dropped off the work book at our home after work, driving out of her way!
So to give some background, I'm the son of a chinese immigrant and my family often meets people who tend to...omit information to us and try to trick us for money. Because of that, I was generally skeptical of places that are not offical government facilities offering certification. That said, I highly recommend this place. While I can't speak for all of the teachers, the ones I had were all very enthusiastic and passionate to actually teach me how to drive. The in-car portion (ask for Frank) was the best. I was straight up with my instructor, Frank, about my insecurities, especially my worries about driving in bad weather conditions and the highway. So what does he do? the minute those bad conditions show up or a chance to bring me on a highway, he does. And I can't argue with his reasoning either; there will never be another time better for me to tackle those difficult scenarios other than when I have an experienced instructor beside me. He walked me through all of the tough scenarios, was slow and calm with me, and taught me several tricks to break down the complex processes of executing those maneuvers, as well as tips on how to avoid having to deal with extreme situations entirely. I have also learned many, many tricks that most people don't think of, and certainly none of my (adult driver) friends have ever even thought of (but all of which they admit made far more sense than the solutions they thought up). Frank was also straight with me, and never sugar coated anything. He never let a single one of my screwups slide, and was always keen on telling me how to fix them. I ended up passing both of my tests (G2 and G tests) on the first try and with high marks (in fact it turns out I scored the highest that anyone in my family and circle of friends have ever seen, 93%). From what I've seen, the instructors at the Oakville North Location are all equally as enthusiastic, knowledgable and passionate as Frank. Simulations are one thing, theory is one thing, but these people will give you the experience and confidence to drive safe and smart. If you're a parent looking for a school for your child, me and my dad both highly recommend this place. your child will be in good hands.
