I haven't been to Mario's BBQ in years... I had fond memories of their Sauga location. When I saw this outlet. I was excited... When I saw the sauce on the counter without preservatives... I was even more excited... I got the Full chicken and Parisian potatoes. The potatoes seem to have been sitting on the heated counter for awhile... Okay forgivable. What's not forgivable.... The chicken was crucified beyond any moistness... This is not the fond memories I had of Sauga. If they have a maximum amount of time they will let a chicken sit or not serve it..their not following it. And oh my god was it aggressively salted.. when its so dry... it only compounds the disappointment.The chicken might have been cooked right at the open.. I bought around 4:30pm... Very disappointed.. There were quite a number of whole chickens waiting. There's so many Porto places in the city. Please do better.
Yum! Yum! and Yum! What else to say eh! One of the best rotisserie chickens I had for a long time. Very friendly and attentive staff, service is top notch and the food as I mentioned is always exceptional. Mmmmm! Many sweet treats there as well, and I like of course the chicken, potatoes, veggies, custard tarts, and the crab cutlets. If more than one person eating, then get a family pack full chicken with two medium size sides, otherwise single serve half chicken with 2 small sides is also the best. Parking is easy. You can also call the store and order in advance. Keep up the good work and please maintain the food quality, because I buy local and eat local. Wishing you the best.
We order for parties all the time from here. This location is very efficient and organized in their catering. The other locations not so much, unfortunately:(. I Had an order for 60 ppl. screw up and had to wait 30 mins for the rest of my order, my guests waited for the food:(. I order from this location instead now.
I had some amazing BBQ chicken in Toronto a couple of weeks ago at a place called Costa Verde at keele and Willson and had been hoping Mario's was similar, BUT, it's not even close. They are similar restaurants in what they offer, I actually ordered the same thing, 2 chickens, large rice and medium potatoes. Aside for the chicken being fresh, it unfortunately wasn't cooked well at all. The menu advertises crispy chicken skin, it was actually soft, slimy and rubbery, nothing crispy about it. The potatoes and rice must have been made hours ago and sitting in the trey all day. Potatoes were over cooked, mushy and not flavored well at all. The rice was undercooked and cold. I spent $63 and it was a total waste. On top of this being a lousy experience it was $20 more compared to Costa verda.
Don’t get any food there. The chicken is horrible!! The sauce on the chicken taste like Indian sauce. Not even authentic PORTUGUES sauce for the chicken. The codfish dish with cream was the worst I’ve ever had in my life and I’m Portugues. Trust me never eat there again. Don’t order anything. Don’t get food from there. It’s the worst chicken place I’ve ever had. The rice tasted like it was frozen and just heated through and put in cellophane box. The potatoes disgusting.
Always fresh, always juicy, the best sauce and the portions are huge! We have catered so many times from Mario's and our guests are always so happy with the food! Thank you Mario's for the quality of food you prepare everytime!
First and foremost, the people were very polite. Secondly and just as important, the food was excellent. The chicken was moist and bursting with flavour. We had a side of potatoes and rice! The price is extremely reasonable. Mario, you will have repeat customers in us, please keep up the good work! Update****After years of being a patron of Mario’s I had to reduce my rating due to the fact they are now charging $2 carving fee if you want chicken cut up. Literally takes the guy ten seconds to cut it up and they charge $2? Very disappointed in Mario’s for doing this and may have to re consider buying from here!
