We stopped by Mel’s Diner while passing through Oakville and had a fantastic breakfast. The food was delicious, generous in portion, and very filling with plenty of great options to choose from. The staff were incredibly welcoming and thoughtful - they even gave our toddler coloring books and freshly baked cookies. We’ll definitely be looking forward to our next trip through Oakville!
We had breakfast at Mel’s and the food and service were amazing. Very nice staff. A very pleasant discovery. I would recommend this place to everyone. Very nice.
Mel's is the best breakfast place in Oakville, Burlington bar none. The eggs Benedict was fabulous with real hollidais and great pea meal bacon. Home fries are really potatoes not those frozen chunks. Mel is the sweetest and friendliest person. The atmosphere is great. Spotless, and wonderful design. Clear, and simple menus. My new go to breakfast place. Go there.
Run Away... Stay away. On our first visit, I should have left when I noticed that half of the outdoor tables were covered in dirty plates that had been left there for our whole 25-minute foodless visit, and no one had even tried to clean them up. Once we were seated, a nice server took our order, brought us our coffees, and then we just sat there, waiting and waiting. After about 10 to 15 minutes, a server came over and asked how we were doing. We told her we were waiting for our food. She went over to the kitchen, chatted with someone, and then went out to take pictures of some guests. The original server never came back. After 25 minutes, we decided to leave, saying we had had enough and couldn’t wait any longer. There’s always a punchline at the end of every joke, and this one is no exception. This place is a joke. After saying we were leaving due to bad service, the owner looked at us and said, “I only just got your order.” ( cue canned laughter ) This was her answer? Apparently, one owner, three servers, and a chef didn’t realize that two people were sitting there for about 25 minutes without any food. Or that they had outside tables that needed to be cleared. Like I said. Stay away!!!! if there is a lack of attention at the front of the house. I cringe to think what goes on behind the scenes.
Nice little hidden treasure. The prices were reasonable, the staff as a whole unit was friendly and personable. The food was incredibly delicious. Nice ambience to the place and even a patio area outside. Even the owner was so welcoming. Recommended to be THE place to go to for Brunch
I was exhausted after a red eye flight, but a close friend said he wanted to take me for breakfast and that I wouldn't be disappointed and boy was he right. The location was somewhat unassuming from someone who had never been, but when I came in, Mel treated us like family. I ordered the carnivore omelette and this thing was stuffed to the gills with ham, bacon, sausage and every bite was delicious. The potatoes (for a guy who normally doesn't eat potatoes) were amazing and i cleaned my plate. I was also dealing with a sore throat so needed something soothing and Mel whipped up a delicious hot chocolate which hit the spot just right. The food and atmosphere are great but are made even more spectacular by Mel. You can tell she loves what she does and is just an overall fantastic person. Go check it out, I promise you will leave with a bigger smile than when you walked in. I sure did, and with a full belly too and look forward to going back!
I work in the building and have come in for breakfast, lunch and snack on numerous occasions. The menu is full of comfort food: Tasty, large portions and good value. But what stands out most is Mel: The proud owner who welcomes you like her long-lost friend, tells the story of her homemade soups, and is genuinely curious about how you are doing. It’s inspiring people like this in our community that make me want to support local small businesses. Thank you.
