Great experience working on PADI Open Water Diver course. Robert is an ocean of knowledge :) and has great attention to detail. He’d answer my questions and also explain why it is what it is. Would explain all the gear in details and make sure it fits properly. I felt safe diving with him. Thank you for the course and thank you for all the stories!
I completed my PADI confined diving course with Robert at the Oakville Dive Shop. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and experience. Met wonderful people. Learned new skills and grew my confidence. Robert is friendly and charming and will make you feel comfortable and safe at all times. Looking forward to dealing with the dive shop in the future.
After we purchased snorkeling equipment for our grandsons at Oakville Divers, we returned for a mask fitting and a little training. Robert was just terrific with the boys, very patient, and encouraging as they learned about various aspects of the use and care of their new equipment. He really went above and beyond to give them a positive experience!
My teenage son is truly fortunate! While waiting for his good friend to join him for ice cream, he casually wandered around and, within less than two minutes, stumbled upon an ad for “Robeit Shannon” placed at the doorstep. Curiosity led him inside, and just as the last customer was leaving, he began an impromptu consultation. What a delightful surprise it was—Mr. Robeit Shannon proved to be incredibly patient and thorough. He introduced my son to various equipment, tested them with him, and even used Google videos and images to help him understand. He explained the conditions required for different training levels, spending nearly 30 minutes with him without once hinting at whether my son intended to buy anything. What’s more, he warmly recommended a diving instructor and, on our way out, gifted my son two magazines. My son was so touched by Mr. Shannon’s kindness that he felt shy about accepting the magazines. I realized Mr. Shannon wanted to enrich my son’s knowledge as a diving novice, so I encouraged him to take them. Though I don’t understand English, I stayed by their side “watching” their conversation, and my heart was overflowing with gratitude! A merchant so meticulous and sincere in treating a child, with no concern for immediate sales, but rather a deep sense of responsibility to share professional knowledge with a minor—it’s truly heartwarming! I’m so thankful! Now, my son is very interested in learning to dive. If he decides to take lessons or buy equipment, he insists he’ll seek out Mr. Robeit Shannon. I wish Mr. Shannon and his family all the happiness and good fortune! I highly recommend this store—choosing it means not just shopping, but being welcomed with extraordinary sincerity and warmth!

Very helpful. I went into purchase, a new mask for snorkeling, but was told I didn’t need a new mask. It fit fine. But the owner explained I would benefit from a better snorkel.
Oakville Divers has been my go to,one stop shop for everything from lessons to gear and information. Rob Shannon has proven time and time again that safety and knowledge equals fun in the water, if you put forth the effort. I wrote a letter to Oakville Divers after my certification, years ago which explains exactly how I felt about the no nonsense get it done approach to diving. If you are eager to learn, and put forth an effort and place your head square between your shoulders you will gain from his experience and the fantastic instructors and support staff he has to offer. I have nothing but respect for this shop and will continue my support for Rob and his staff. Fast forward to current day... Today, years later I have been able to achieve my Dive Master Certification, which I completed the process through the patient and enthusiastic instructor Steve Camacho with Oakville Divers. I have been active with Oakville Divers from the get go and now find myself giving back to the shop that has been a guiding force behind my personal achievements. I now volunteer my time with a fantastic Group of professional instructors and DM assistants in helping others achieve their goals in becoming certified PADI divers. Over the years, Robert and I became good friends, as we stood along side one another during my journey. As a friend and DM, I am so pleased for Robert, as he is deserved of this award as a result of hard work, perseverance, and dedication to his students. For those who take, and want to pickup the challenge, and learn how to SCUBA dive the proper way. As a professional diver, I have had the pleasure of many students that choose to undertake this journey with Oakville Divers. Let me start off by saying, this sport is not without its inherent risks to begin with, and quite frankly...You need to be not only serious about this sport, but regimented in learning and understanding the how to, when undertaking this responsibility you are set to embark on. There really is no free pass in SCUBA lessons. Its called hard work and dedication, that will allow you to become better and safer divers down the road. As for myself personally...my reward I get out of this is being able to pay it forward. Not only to Oakville Divers, but to the students who attend this coarse and want to learn how to safely scuba dive anywhere in the world within your limits.
