The overall experience was very average. This was my first visit and definitely my last. The food itself was fine, but the serving pace was extremely slow. The kitchen seemed to prepare all dine-in tables and takeout orders together, instead of serving dishes by table. As a result, we would eat a bite or two and then sit there waiting a long time for the next dish. The most disappointing part was the service. There is only one server and she seemed untrained and inattentive. Every time we tried to find a server, no one was around. After dropping off a dish, she would disappear completely. The bill came to around $500. Even the minimum 10% tip would be $50. With this level of service, I don’t think it deserves a single dollar in tips.
We enjoyed a special birthday celebration with family visiting from NY, and Hoseki did not disappoint. Our group of seven ordered à la carte, and everyone had a wonderful experience. The nigiri was exceptional, and the rolls were delicious as well. Our guests loved it just as much as we did, and we will certainly be visiting again!
A very enjoyable experience. The staff were welcoming and perfectly knowledgeable about our gluten restrictions, which allowed us to enjoy a great dinner safely. We had the sashimi dinner and the sushi & maki — the fish was beautifully presented, fresh, and excellent. The atmosphere was also very pleasant, with nice jazz music playing in the background. We’ll go back with no hesitation.
If you want a sophisticated but modern authentic Japanese sushi. What are you waiting for? This amazing place brought us back to asia. The flavours, service, and vibe, all on point.
Food was ok. It was not so special for me I can find some similar restaurants in Toronto with lower price. Server was nice. Slow service , there were 3 tables but I waited over 30 min for my dinner
Well, I have yet to visit Japan, but at this new premium sushi restaurant in Downtown Oakville, I certainly had a taste of what premium sushi should taste like! My eight friends and I went there for an Omakasi experience and Chef Tim did not disappoint. The presentation was fantastic, the fish was so fresh you're encouraged to have them without soy sauce, and the wagyu and tenderloin beef at the end was just pieces of heaven. I was never a sea urchin fan, but Hoseki's quality was so fresh, I can understand now why people are obsessed with it. I can't get over our experience. Oakville peeps are so lucky to have such an exquisite restaurant in their hood.
Nice and cozy new Authentic Japanese restaurant in the heart of downtown Oakville Food was amazing and so fresh. It made me feel like I was in Japan again. Chef Tim was so knowledgeable and answered all of our question we asked. Can’t wait to come back again
