I had an amazing experience at Salem beauty salon! Waseem transformed my dark hair into a gorgeous light color, and the best part is my hair still feels healthy and soft with no damage. He really listened to what I wanted, explained every step, and made sure the process was gentle on my hair. I absolutely love the result—natural, shiny, and exactly the look I was hoping for. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a beautiful color change without compromising hair health!
I’m very disappointed with my experience at this place. I went in for a haircut, but the person who attended to me did practically nothing. When I tried to explain what I wanted, he got upset and refused to listen or make any effort to understand. The receptionist, who was very friendly, told me to come back another day and that the owner would fix it at no cost. However, when I showed up for that appointment, the owner never arrived. I ended up wasting my time. They suggested I come back yet again, but no thank you!
I had the worst makeup and hair experience at this salon ever. It was for my engagement party and so it was very important that I looked good. Firstly, I’ve gotten my make up done several times before, but I have never had such a terrible experience getting my make up done. The make up artist Youmna did not listen to anything that I wanted, I told her I wanted natural makeup, I wanted no eyeshadow under my eyes. She would not listen to a word I said, every time I told her that the make up she was doing, was too much and too heavy for me, she kept saying that she knew what she was doing, and that I would look good at the end. She also never allowed me to look in the mirror. She said I was not allowed to look in the mirror until she was done the make up and even when I tried to sneak peaks into my phone camera, she told me I was cheating and I was not allowed to look at it. It was so bad that I went home and I washed my entire makeup off with soap and redid my own make up for my engagement party. I also don’t think that she is hygienic at all. Her brushes and sponge looked severely dirty and her entire station just looked like it was not cleaned. I understand that she is not affiliated with Salem hair salon and just uses their space, but it is their responsibility to make sure that their clients are receiving good service and clean service. The hair artist was also terrible. He was extremely rude and was working on another client at the same time so he was leaving me for 10 minutes at a time to work with the other client even though I was on a time crunch. He was not allowing me to properly explain what I wanted, and I was scared to even comment anything because he would not respond in a kind manner. For example, I asked him if the extensions were the same length as my hair or longer than my hair and he aggressively took my hair and put it to the front and said “look look” and pointed aggressively to indicate that it was going to be longer than my hair. It was very inappropriate and the entire experience was so traumatizing that I didn’t let them put the hairpins in my hair because all I wanted to do was leave and never come back. And the hair was not good at all, my friend had to come over when I got home and fix it herself. Overall, I would stay far away from this salon and never come back. Even 1 star is too much.
Salem is honestly great!! I’ve been his client for years, I wouldn’t go anywhere else and his work is amazing?. Super friendly and very professional I recommend you go to him every time! You will not regret it :D????????
Just got my hair done by Ricki and it turned out amazing! My hair was disaster and not only did she make it look amazing she was wonderful to talk with. There ended up being a lot to do and she kindly stayed well after hours to get it done along with her coworker Orianna who stayed behind to help even after she was done for the day. Both girls were an absolute pleasure to be around, it felt like I was hanging out with old friends. Thank you so much to the both of you for a wonderful day and Ricki for making me proud of my hair again! Couldn't recommend uptown enough.
I have been getting my hair done at Uptown with Justyna since about 2003. Although I have not made any drastic changes to my hair, I've gone through stages of growing it longer or making it lighter. I trust Justyna to help me make decisions that not only look good but are sustainable within my lifestyle. I never had problems with appointments being rescheduled within short notice or not being given enough time or attention during my appointment. For a short while several years ago Justyna was on leave and the other staff who did my hair was competent and professional. I would highly recommend Uptown as I know that many of the staff have been there for quite a while and are experienced, not only Justyna as the owner. They truly care about their clients.
I’ve been coming to this Salon for 13+ years. Probably one of the BEST salons in Oakville. I normally see Ricki and she’s amazing. Ricki is by far the best stylist I have been to. The staff are always friendly, all VERY talented, and they are always current with the latest trends. I would definitely recommend this salon.
