My toddler looks forward to his music class with Ms. Michelle. She is an absolutely wonderful music teacher! She has a gentle, joyful way of engaging little ones. Her sessions are fun, interactive, and filled with singing, movement, and instruments that keep the kids excited throughout the class.
We are now in our second year with Ms. Jessica as our child’s piano teacher and we could not be more grateful for her. She is incredibly patient, kind and encouraging with young children and she truly understands how to teach at an age appropriate level. Her lessons are motivating and fun and she has a wonderful way of helping children grasp both theory and playing techniques in a way that feels natural and achievable. Ms. Jessica is a very talented musician, but what makes her exceptional is that she is not only skilled in music but also gifted as a teacher. Teaching small children requires a very special ability and she consistently maintains their attention and enthusiasm, always speaking with kindness and warmth. The games and activities she incorporates are creative, engaging and thoughtfully designed to reinforce each week’s learning. She teaches to each child’s individual level and never makes a child or parent feel badly if homework is missed or a concept needs to be revisited. Her approach creates a safe, positive and confidence building learning environment. Ms. Jessica communicates exceptionally well and always responds promptly if not instantly to any questions or requests outside of class time. She has made our child’s piano experience such a positive one and ours as parents as well. Thank you Ms. Jessica for all of your kindness, patience and dedication. You are truly a gem!
Had a really bad experience with one of the guitar teachers here. I felt like my lesson was very rushed and the teacher did not take the time to come up with a plan for my music education goals or even give me time to take in what they were teaching during the lesson. I felt like they wanted to get it over with as soon as possible to see the next student. However, the school was willing to waive the 30 day cancellation policy since I was not satisfied with my lesson which I appreciated.
We had a wonderful experience at Merriam’s group piano class with Ms. Jessica Mango, who always keeps her class engaging and motivating. My daughter ranked it as one of her favourite extracurricular activities and made steady progress over the years. The program also offers an “All star” option for students interested in more challenging pieces, which we enrolled in and thoroughly enjoyed.
We’ve had a truly wonderful experience at Merriam School of Music – Oakville. The school itself is warm, welcoming, and professionally run, but what has made all the difference for our family is Matthew Wallace, our son’s drum instructor. Matthew is not only incredibly knowledgeable and talented, but also kind, patient, and deeply caring. He takes the time to understand our son’s unique skills and challenges and always approaches lessons with inclusivity and encouragement. His ability to make learning fun and engaging has sparked a genuine love for music in our son. It’s rare to find a teacher who combines expertise with empathy, and Matthew does this effortlessly. We feel so lucky to have him guiding our son’s musical journey. Highly recommend Merriam School of Music and especially Matthew Wallace to any family looking for a supportive and inspiring music education experience!
8 year old student : Ms.Alana is an amazing teacher and she always helps everyone when they need help.Even if music is hard ,she helps people in a fun and easy way!!!!?? Mom points of view: As a super busy mom ,with no music background ,we are always grateful of Ms.Alana's offline &even after group class supports.She is super nice and understanding .She does her best for student! can't say thank you enough, kid's world needs more people like her! always grateful all of Ms.Alana"s ongoing support .She help s students even during the week ,offline whch was truly wonderful.
My daughter started taking piano classes when she was 7, now 5 years later, her progress is fantastic. My daughter loves her piano teacher, Alana. She is very kind, professional , talented. I would definitely recommend Merriam school of music to anyone.
